Presentation transcript:

Otis Redding Jr Darin Lee

Why are they such a bigshot? He began to get famous after recording his song “These Arms of Mine” in 1963. However, on December 10, 1967, he died in a plane crash just as his career was actually taking off. His last song, "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay," which was unfinished when released after he died, became a No. 1 hit on the pop and R&B charts a year after his death.

What did he do? He did this. Otis Redding was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Awards in 1999. His song “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay” is credited for influencing the soul movement by combining traditional rhythm and blues with folk.

He was another human being just like us. Who knew He was another human being just like us? Who knew?! We all did, that’s who. Born on September 9, 1941 in Dawson, Georgia. Family moved to Macon, Georgia when he was 5 (Year 1946). Moved to Los Angeles, California in 1960 (Age 19). Began releasing singles here. Moved back to Georgia one year later and recorded “Shout Bamalama.” Died on December 10, 1967 in a plane crash just as his career was taking off.

What I think… Personally, I am not a fan on pop or R&B music and do not intend to become a fan. But people seem to like it so I’m not going to judge. Unless they judge me. Then that’s when judge them. I don’t really have another opinion, so I’m just using this as a placeholder for now. If I have kept this here and you are reading it, realize now that you have wasted a good 10 seconds or so of your life.
