2. The day she was born was on March 25, 1942. Her home town was in Detroit, and also she was a preachers daughter from Detroit. Soon enough she became one of the most famous singers in her time. January 3, 1987 she became the first woman to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

3. Her gospel success led legendary talent scout John Hammond Jr. To sign her to Columbia Records, but the label sought to market her as a jazz talent since gospel had not yet bled into the pop mainstream.

4. The title may not be 100-percent accurate, since the songs here culled from franklins soul years, roughly between 1967-1974, and she’s had lots more its since then.

5. The gospel sound of Aretha Franklin is released on the Detroit-based JVB Records. Recorded in church at age fourteen, it would be reissued thirty years later as Aretha Gospel.
