Story of the Week: Babu’s Song Week of Sept 11, 2017 First Nine Wks Issue # 1 Mrs. Castellano's Class Weekly Objectives Homework Language Arts – Fiction & Non fiction, characters, setting, plot, Problem and solution, Parts of a book-glossary, table of contents, past tense endings, declarative and interrogative sentences, prepositions, plural nouns, author’s purpose. Math – Add/subtraction with regrouping. Science – Matter: bend, flex, fold, cut Social Studies – Pride in our community, 9-11. As part of your 20 minutes reading time, please use istation; storyline online; bookflix: bkflix.Grolier.com-UN: jdrugan. PW: bookflix Monday– Read your fluency folder pages: 13 and 14 (time for one minute); Write spelling words three times each. Math: p. Week 7. Bring homework to school everyday. Tuesday– Read your fluency folder Pages: 13, 14 (time for one minute). Math: p. Week 7. Write spelling words in ABC order. Wednesday- Read your fluency folder Pages: 13, 14 (time for one minute); Math: p. Week 7. Write a sentence for all spelling words. Thursday- Read your fluency folder Pages: 13, 14 (time for one minute); Math: p. Week 7. Ask parents to give you a practice spelling test. Practice the ones you missed. Write a sentence for all your vocabulary word Friday-Tests on story of the week, spelling words, vocabulary words . I will send the tests on Friday. Please sign and return them. If you don’t get them, please write me a note in the agenda. Spelling Words Pattern: Long a (ai, ay) pay, pail, snail, nail, jail, hay, May, stay, play, lay, bay, say, fail, mail, tail, rail, sail Vocabulary Words Story of the Week: Babu’s Song Exclaimed: Shouted or said something excited. Concern: To care or worry about something. Vendors: People who sell things or food. Figure: A drawing or model of something. Collection: A group of things you like to save or collect like rocks, marbles, cards. 3 More weeks of school left before fall break. Please no absences. Istation: Every student received a letter about istation (in a sheet protector in agenda) and how to use it at home along with their passwords and progress on istation. Please have your children use it for support. It really works! Conference time: 12:55-1:20 M,T,Th,F. No calls will be transferred or accepted at any other time. Please write a note in the agenda so that I can call you back. During this time I am also at meetings, trainings, and preparing myself for my lessons. Calls will be returned as soon as possible. Thank you. NFL Flag Fundraiser: Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to win and sell the most flags. Box tops and Price’s caps: Please continue sending  Homework Lab If your child struggles at home with behavior or homework, please send a note giving permission for students to use the HOMEWORK LAB here at school AFTERSCHOOL in the Science Lab from 3:30 to 5pm. It is free! Please help check your child’s homework every day. I no longer have the extra time in the mornings since Superschool starts right at 7:45am. Thank you for all your help. Class will now start at 7:45am. If your child needs to eat breakfast, please send to school by 7:35am so that he/she will have enough time to enjoy their meal and is ready to learn.
