Week Aug 13, 2018 Issue #3- 1st 9 Weeks Ms. Knight Weekly Objectives Monday–Fluency Folder pg. _9_ Have your parents time your fluency folder reading for 1 minute. Write down the time you finished reading each page. Practice reading the same pages every day. Write spelling words 3 times. Practice using your vocabulary words at home. Tuesday–Fluency Folder pg. _9_ Have your parents time your fluency folder reading for 1 minute. Write down the time you finished reading each page. Practice reading the same page every day. Write spelling words in ABC order. Practice using your vocabulary words at home. Wednesday: –Fluency Folder pg. _9___ Have your parents time your fluency folder reading for 1 minute. Write down the time you finished reading each page. Practice reading the same pages every day. Write a sentence with each spelling word. Practice using your vocabulary words at home. Thursday––Fluency Folder pg. ___9. Have your parents time your fluency folder reading for 1 minute. Write down the time you finished reading. Have your parents give you a practice spelling test. Practice using your vocabulary words at home. Friday- Read for 20 minutes every day. Tests on story of the week, spelling words, vocabulary words . I will send the tests on Friday. Please sign and return them. If you don’t get them, please write me a note in the agenda. Language Arts – Fiction & Non fiction, characters, setting, plot, Problem and solution, prepositions, plural nouns, author’s purpose. Math- Place Value. Science – What is a scientist? Science Tools, Safety. Social Studies – Historical Figures, Celebrations. Spelling Words Short a vowel sound Dad, tan, pan, man, ran, van, ban, fan, can, vat Vocabulary Words Story: David’s New Friends groan: to make an unhappy sound when you are sad or mad. Excited: very happy. whispers: to say something in a quiet voice. different: not the same. carefully: full of care. To do something with care. Announcements There will be some homework this week. Bell rings at 7:30a.m. Thank you for being on time. Breakfast ends at 7:45. Afterschool pick up: We dismiss at 3:10pm. Conference Time: 9:30 to 10:00am. Please write me a note in the agenda if you would like to schedule an appointment. I will call you or send you an appointment date/time. During this time I am at trainings, meetings, and conferences.  Please sign agendas every day. This is how I will be communicating with you on a daily basis. Your child will need all your support in helping him/her become an excellent reader. I look forward to working with all of you. If you should have any questions throughout the year I will be delighted to schedule an appointment and answer any questions. Thank you for your kind support! Please send Expo Markers and eraser. We will use these everyday all day for a hands on learning experience. Thank you. Snacks: Students can bring a snack for the afternoon. Thank you for sending healthy snacks that will help them concentrate and stay healthy. Fridays are testing days. Thank you for scheduling appointments after 10:00am or bring them after 10:00am so they are not counted absent. Let’s Make It Count! Let’s have 100% Perfect Attendance. We will win the Perfect Attendance Party and treats! Thank you for taking your child to the doctor after 10am OR taking to the doctor in the morning and returning students to school before 10am. They will not be counted absent.
