The Personal Project The Personal Project can take various forms, such as: - an essay - a piece of creative writing - an original science experiment - the organization of an event - a work or art

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) DP is for students in grades 11 & 12. Through the DP, schools are able to develop students who will: have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically study at least two languages excel in traditional academic subjects & complete the unique DP CORE requirements

The Diploma Programme The six subject groups are: Group 1. Studies in language and literature Group 2. Language acquisition Group 3. Individuals and societies Group 4. Sciences. Group 5. Mathematics Group 6. The arts. The DP curriculum includes six Subject Groups and the DP Core. Student must enroll & pass one class from each subject group to earn an IB DP Diploma.

The Diploma Programme CORE The three core elements are: Theory of knowledge, (TOK) in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know. The extended essay, (EE) which is an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper. Creativity, activity, service, (CAS) in which students complete a project related to those three concepts. Made up of the three required components, the DP Core  aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.

Assessment Details in the Diploma Programme The IB assesses student work as direct evidence of achievement against the stated goals of the Diploma Program (DP) courses. These exams (both internal & external) measure the extent to which students have mastered advanced academic skills. For example: analyzing and presenting information evaluating and constructing arguments solving problems creatively Basic skills are also assessed, including: retaining knowledge understanding key concepts applying standard methods Student assessments are scored (1-7) by performance against set standards, not by each student's position in the overall rank order.

Exams and College Credit Students who attempt the “FULL DIPLOMA” will take 3 subjects at higher level (HL) and 3 at standard level (SL). HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with HL students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at higher level. In the 12th grade, at the end of the second year of their DP Course(s), students will take an DP exam. As a result of their scores on these exams, University or College credit may be awarded. NOTE: It is extremely important to refer to the individual university/college website for details on the advanced credit(s) offered by each institution.

EARNING THE “IB DIPLOMA” The IB Diploma is awarded to students who: achieve a minimum score in each of the SIX subject groups earn an overall total of at least 24 points demonstrate successful completion of the 3 essential elements of the DP Core.  How DP Assessments are scored: Students receive a grade for each DP course attempted. In the DP, students receive grades on their assessments/exams ranging from 1 to 7, with 7 being highest. The DP Core scoring: The theory of knowledge (TOK) and extended essay (EE) components are awarded individual grades and, collectively, can contribute up to 3 additional points towards the overall Diploma score total. Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)– does not contribute to the points total but authenticated participation is a requirement for the award of the diploma.

International Baccalaureate Career-related Program (CP) For students who do not want to take the full DP course work, the Career-related Program is another option for School Lane Students.

The CP is specifically designed for students who wish to engage in career-related learning while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement.
