Mountain Pre-IB Program Formally known as the Honours Program Grades 9 &10 Diploma Program Grades 11 and 12 IB Fees are Mandatory in Gr. 11 and 12 Course (Certificate) Program Partial IB Program Grades 11 and 12 .

Total Fees to student for a two year program = $800.00 Gr $400 per year, payable upon acceptance into the program Gr $400 per year, payable during course selection in March Mountain subsidizes additional cost for each student IB Program Costs $ more per student then a Non- IB student

The Curriculum contains six subject groups together with the Core. Three subjects are studied at higher level. Three subjects are studied at standard level. All three parts of the core: extended essay, theory of knowledge creativity, action, service are compulsory and are central to the philosophy of the Diploma Program.

There are three core requirements The Extended Essay 4,000 words Offers the opportunity to investigate a research question of individual interest Familiarises students with the independent research and writing skills expected at university

University Science Programs Require: Chemistry and Physics 11 Pre-Calculus 12 2 Science 12’s (Bi. 12, Ch. 12, Ph. 12) In IB a student can take a Max. of 2 Sciences Sciences/Engineering: IB Ph. 11/12 SL/HL + IB Ch. 11/12 SL/HL Sciences: Most students want Bi. 11/12 + Ch. 11/12 SL or HL THEN: Physics 11 must be taken online OR at Summer School

The IB programme each contain four core elements Diploma Ages Curriculum Student assessment Professional development School evaluation The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 – 19, for success at university and life beyond

23 Services: What is special about IB assessment
Services: What is special about IB assessment? IB assessment is rigorous, criterion related, consistent and differentiating of student ability. Diploma Programme assessment includes both final examinations and internal assessment undertaken by the teacher to IB criteria and then externally moderated by the IB. All 4,000 examiners are ‘quality checked’ through a process of moderation. The IB undertakes random inspections of schools during exams. Results published on: July 5th for May Exams

24 The diploma is graded over 45 points giving ample scope to differentiate student ability
Marks awarded for each course range from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest). Diploma is awarded to students who gain at least 24 points. 4. The overall diploma pass rate is broadly consistent year on year 5. Diploma Programme assessment – principles and practice – available on IB Assessment

26 University recognition: How well is the diploma recognized by universities? The IB diploma is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.   The IB works closely with universities in all regions of the world to gain recognition for the IB diploma: Direct online access for university admissions officers and government officials to syllabuses and recent examination papers A database of university admission policies on Recognition in over 100 countries Recognition by over 2,000 universities Some universities offer scholarships and advanced placement for IB students Students applying to a particular university can access their grades directly from the IB’s secure web site.
