Levels of Qualifications

Scottish Professional Diploma (SPD) What is it? It is the name of a group award which comprises 2 elements: HND Nautical Science/Marine Engineering – SCQF Level 8 Professional Development Award - Marine Management – SCQF Level 9 What are the benefits? Students Opportunity to gain an enhanced qualification; exemption from OOW SQA writtens; reduced college time for progressive CoC. Companies Candidates who have developed their critical thinking and analytical skills; gained a deeper understanding of the technical and management aspects of ship and shore-side operations What is the success rate? Based on figures from the past 3 years 80% of the students who started in Phase 1 successfully completed Phase 5.
