My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos! The Eight Planets My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos!

Inner Planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars

Inner Planets: small & made of rock.

Mercury-looks like our moon (Luna)

Mercury-no atmosphere! (takes 88 days to orbit the sun)

Venus-covered in yellow clouds & the hottest planet!

The surface is made mainly of the mineral IRON. Iron rusts. Mars-”Red” Planet The surface is made mainly of the mineral IRON. Iron rusts.

Outer Planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

OUTER PLANET FACTS: VERY LARGE MADE OF GASES RINGS AROUND THEM

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune-all have rings!

Jupiter-largest planet

Jupiter: 63 moons & a great red spot

Saturn’s Rings: ice & rock

Uranus-spins on its side! Its axis is tilted almost completely on its side. The tilt is what causes seasons.

Neptune: 5 billion km away from the sun!

takes 165 years to orbit the sun Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun

Pluto is now a dwarf planet!
