What do you think are the most important procedures to have in class?
Presentation transcript:

Beginning of Class Procedures: Homeroom 08/05/2015 Beginning of Class Procedures: Turn in any signed paperwork to me. The faster you submit your signed paperwork, the faster you’ll receive a locker. Did you bring a backpack? WHY? Stop doing that! I’m kidding. But, seriously, stop bringing it. You can bring a backpack AFTER you get a locker. Leave any backpacks here and get them BEFORE connections. Go get your breakfast NOW. Do not wait. Breakfast is over at 9:15.

Language Arts – Warm Up 08/05/15 Find a seat. You will be assigned a seat later. Each day, you are expected to immediately begin the Warm Up (Opening Session). Warm Up: READ and follow the directions. Be sure to FOLD your paper BEFORE you begin. Complete the “How Many Ways Are You Smart?” sheet. Don’t forget to turn in any parent homework.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 Syllabus Coverage Syllabus – What is it? How are grades distributed in this class? What do you do if you have late work? Can you have a pass out of the classroom if you don’t have your agenda? What additional materials will you need for this class? When is your syllabus homework due?

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 Syllabus Coverage Syllabus – What is it? How are grades distributed in this class? What do you do if you have late work? Can you have a pass out of the classroom if you don’t have your agenda? What additional materials will you need for this class? When is your syllabus homework due?

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 Essential Question: How can I be successful in 6th grade? Standard: ELACC6W4 - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. “Today I will use RAFT writing because it will help me address a topic for a specific audience and purpose.”

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 R.A.F.T. Writing Activity Role - Teacher Audience - Students Format – Children’s Book Topic – Expectations of Students in a Classroom

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 Step 1: Fold your construction paper in half. Step 2: Fold two sheets of notebook paper in half and place them inside your construction paper to create a four-page book. Step 3: Staple the pages together to form your book. Step 4: Create a cover with a title and your name. Step 5: Using our classroom rules, re-write the rules using your own words so that even a 4-year-old would understand. Each rule should have its own page. Be sure to use the front and the back of each page. Save rule #9 for later. Step 6: Rule 9 should be placed on the inside of the back cover. AFTER you have completed your rules, you may illustrate them.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/05/15 Our Classroom Rules and Expectations Talking ceases the moment you enter the classroom. Have all supplies ready upon entry to the classroom. Sharpen pencils before or after class only. Throw trash away before or after class only. No paper balls! Once you are prepared, immediately begin the Bell Ringer/Warm Up. Always raise your hand to speak. No food, drink, or gum is allowed in the classroom. Be respectful of yourself and of others. Enjoy each and every day to your fullest potential.

Language Arts – Closing Session 08/05/15 Ticket Out the Door (T.O.T.D.) How will what we covered today help you to be successful in sixth Grade? Tomorrow, we will have class in the Library/Media Center. I’ll meet you there! BRING A PENCIL ON FRIDAY!!!
