Grant Proposal How to get that money

Executive Summary (about a page) The Executive Summary gives the donor a snapshot of the entire proposal/project Summarizes all the important information to convince the donor to donate What to include in what should be 3-4 paragraphs: Short description about the organization (history, purpose) Short statement of the problem/need Short description of the project, what will happen, how many will benefit, for how long, who will be involved Explain the amount of wanted money and plans for its usage Executive Summary (about a page)

Organization Information (1 page) Explain how the organization came into existence State its mission Connect the mission to the subject of the proposal/project State the structure, programs, and leadership of the organization Describe staff numbers and jobs, and other activities State the audience of the organization and who will benefit from the project Organization Information (1 page)

Statement of Need (1.5-2 pages) The statement of need helps the donor to know more about the problem. Facts and evidence are good for support. Be to the point, yet persuasive. Make sure your support information is accurate Give the donor a hopeful picture of the situation Explain how the need will be helpful to the organization Statement of Need (1.5-2 pages)

Project Description and Plan of Action (about 2 pages) Subsections Goals and Objectives Staffing and Administration Finance information Restatement of the issue Length of time for the project How the project will run Positive future outcomes from project Project Description and Plan of Action (about 2 pages)

Monitoring—happens during the implementation of a project. It’s the watching and improving of a project while in action Evaluation—happens after the project is complete Sees the outcome: what changes occurred as a result, good or bad, the impact Sometimes called Sustainability M&E plan (1-1.5 pages)

Monitoring: During the first two weeks of the project, in which the tiles will be replaced, Mr. Z will check in every two hours to see the progress of the work and how the tiles fit and work to the new style of the bathroom. Evaluation: Once a week for the following month after the tiles have been replaced, Mr. Z will go in and inspect to see how the tiles have withstood the new movement within the bathroom, against water, cleaning agents, cleaning instruments, etc… What M&E looks like

A few sentences highlighting the mission/purpose of the organization (give possible practical example) Connect the highlight to the example and point towards the positive future with the work that will be accomplished using the money desired to be granted Conclusion (1/2 page)
