Place I read about the panama canal and how many people use it. I all so found out about the tallest mountain is Vulcan Baru. I all so found about that there is a mountain range between panama and costa Rica. There is 3 lakes in panama. 1 is the a Alajuela Lake and Bayano Lake last is the Gatun Lake. Most of the people that live in panama are roman catholic. The panama canal is a path way that is 7 miles wide.

Location The absolute location of Panama is Panama City. The country of Panama is located in Central America, between North and South America. The Caribbean Sea is to the North and the Pacific Ocean is to the south. It is also bordered by Costa Rica to the West and Colombia to the East. Panama is famous for the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is a 48 mile shipping canal that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans across the Isthmus of Panama.

Movement You enter panama from one of the most magnificent ports. The Colon port has beautiful ships passing through everyday and is one of the largest port complexes in Latin America. From there you can move anywhere. You can go to Coiba and go scuba diving and snorkeling. You can travel the Pan-American highway the longest highway in the world measuring 30,000 kilograms. You can take a ride on the longest railroad in Panama; The Panama Canal Railway reaching almost 50 miles long! One of the best places for tourism are the markets of panama where the sell there main export, amazing bananas, sugar cane, and black coffee. Panama is the only place in the world where you can see the sun rise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic.

Human/Environment Interactions When I read about panama I learned about how the French pulled away from the panama canal because the mosquitos carried a disease called malaria. Malaria infects your liver cells and it goes after blood cells and causes illness.Panama has a average temp of 66 degrees. In panama there is 150 inches of rain a year.Their main crop is bananas. The Gatun lake is made from the Gatun dam. President Theodore Roosevelts bought the panama for 40 million dollars. There main crop suffered from a disease called chlamydospores. The disease is in the soil and kills the crop.

Regions I read that people wanted and easer and better way to get from the Pacific ocean to the Atlantic Ocean with out going all the way around South America so the make the Panama Canal. Making the Panama Canal was also dangerous people died of malaria and yellow fever. President Roosevelt hired general George W. Goethals to make lock shift up and down for boats to get through the Panama Canal.
