2 Traveling By Water… St. Lawrence Seaway connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean by using the St. Lawrence River. Ships are lowered and raised by a series of LOCKS. Locks are sections of the waterway with closed gates and water levels rise or lower. What area of the United States does the St. Lawrence Seaway connect?

3 Traveling by Train…. Rail workers had to change the physical environment to lay down tracks. The first transcontinental railroad was completed across the United States in 1869. Carries goods and people US has the largest railway system

4 Traveling by Car… Today, the United States has 4 Million Miles of roads Canada has 560,000 miles of road How would the physical geography of a place affect where roads are built?
