LITERATURE Assessed 30% Controlled Assessment 70% External Assessment = 2 exams

ENGLISH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE Assessed 40% Controlled Assessment 60% External Assessment = 1 exam

Work towards the qualification starts immediately with both courses Students are aware of the controlled assessments they are taking each term. The Complete Programme of Study is available on the school website.

All students will take the following; Unit 1: Understanding and Producing Non Fiction Texts External Examination 60% of total GCSE, 2 hours 30 min, 80 marks Section A: Reading (30 minutes allowed for reading the materials) 1 hour, 40 marks Section B: Writing 1 hour, 40 marks (2 tasks)
