Welcome to Pentrehafod School

Here at Pentrehafod School, we try to work together to be sustainable and environmentally friendly to make our school a better place. Our Eco-committee is responsible for making sure the school stays litter-free and we have a say about ways to keep the school environment and local community Eco-friendly.

The Eco-committee has designed the School Eco-Code which is displayed in all of the classrooms around the school. It reminds people to recycle and turn off lights to save energy.

Recycling in Pentrehafod School We decided to try to reduce the amount of litter going to landfill so we asked for recycling bins. Now every classroom and break area has a red bin for plastic and a green bin for paper.

Litter Picking To improve our school environment we started to do litter picks during PSE lessons. It reduced the rubbish around the school and made the quad look much nicer. We decided to help clean up the local community by litter picking around a local shop in the Hafod and around the road by the school.

We have lots of ideas about how we want our new school to be. Our New School Build We have lots of ideas about how we want our new school to be. We want it to be sustainable and Eco-friendly and we have suggested light timers, solar panels and we would also like to reduce water waste. When we get our new school, we would like to plant a ‘Food Garden’ to grow vegetables and herbs we could use in Food Technology.

Awards at Pentrehafod School We are working towards the level 5 healthy schools award We are the 1st school in Wales to get the level 2 Rights Respecting Award.
