What It Means to Be A Christian? (1a) Who Is a Christian?

Christian! A derivative of Greek, Χριστιανός, (christianos) “One who identifies himself as a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ.” A Christian is one who has obeyed the gospel based upon God’s plan of salvation and thus is a TRUE follower of Jesus. Christian!

What it Means to be a Christian! You are a new creation “Born again” 1 Peter 1:22-23 “Newness of life” Romans 6:3-4 A new creation, 2 Cor. 5:17 A new start in life – you are forgiven! 2 Corinthians 5:17 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 1 Peter 1:22-25 22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, Romans 6:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
