Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Hein’s Weekly Newsletter! November 9, 2012 Math We have been working on our numbers through five. Keep practicing writing the numbers! Remember how you learned to form them in class! We have been drawing, counting, and writing these numbers. We have been comparing the numbers, talking about greater and fewer. Please be sure to work on creating those Counting Number Books for family fun math too! Our Thanksgiving Feast will be on Tuesday, November 20th . Please be on the lookout for the letter that went home about classroom donations. Thanks so much for your help with this!  Language Arts This week we have started our unit All About How to Explore the World Around Us by using our 5 senses. We have been making predictions and talking about text structure in a story. We have been looking for patterns that authors use to organize their thoughts and ideas. We will be sending home some additional Lead 21 homework next week too. Be on the lookout! SIGHT WORDS This week we introduced the words: And We Please be sure to continue to practice reading these sight words and writing them too. A sheet will be given to use at conferences to help you practice these words with your kiddo at home!  Indian Picto-graphs Your child this week has been learning all about the meanings behind the symbol drawings of our Indian Picto-graphs. They have been using these symbols to make up and retell their own stories! How exciting!!!! Next week we will be making placemats for our feast using these symbols. Please have your kiddo teach you how to read and write using these story starters!!!! We will be in the process of making a Tepee for our classroom painting Picto-graphs on the side next week! We will keep you posted! Reader’s Club This week your kiddo has started working on reading books with me during this group time. Each week your kiddo will read and re-read some stories that go along with our Focus for the week. This week it was all about using our 5 senses. Ask your kiddo what they read about during this time. Plus, they have also worked at the listening center, computer center, writing center (to create a story with a beginning, middle, and end), vocabulary center (to write about the five senses), and phonics/letter center (to work on letter activities). Handwriting Remember to use an uppercase letter to start your name and lowercase letters to finish it. Also practice those numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. CONFERENCES Parents, I look forward to meeting with you one on one to discuss your child’s progress so far this year. Please be sure to come prepared with any questions or concerns you have at this time. Remember…it is important to be on time for our conferences as I have a very full schedule and need to stay on track so that everyone will be able to get their special time in. Thanks so much for your help and understanding with this matter!  I look forward to meeting with each of you!  Reminders Monday November 12th - Lead 21 Homework goes home - Book orders are due November 15, 16, 19, 20, 21 ~ EARLY DISMISSAL!
