Communication Communication is an essential key to a successful school year. Please get in touch with me in the following ways: -Write me a note. -Call the school (631)473-1211 and I will get to you as soon as possible. -Email the school at- aschiavo@ourladyofwisdomschool.com Please send me a note with your email address as well.

Tests and Homework Tests -All tests, quizzes and writing assignments must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned the following day. -We will go over all tests in class and on occasion the students will be asked to make corrections at home. Homework -Homework will usually be given every night from Monday through Thursday. If work isn’t completed in class, it must be done at home. -Homework is to be completed every night unless there is a valid reason. If this is so, please send in a note with your child stating the reason why the work wasn’t completed. If no reason is stated, recess time will be deducted.

Agenda Book -Agenda books are written in each day, the students copy their homework from the board at the end of each lesson or the end of the day. -The children are reminded nightly to bring their agenda books home. -It is important that you check your child’s agenda and sign it nightly. Agendas will be checked for signatures.

Morning Routine/DEAR time -From 8:05-8:15 each morning the students will have specific work to complete independently. This will include spelling, worksheets, grammar, writing, math, journal, etc. Snack is at 9:40, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS A PEANUT FREE SNACK!!! -D.E.A.R. time-Most days the students will have DEAR time; therefore, students are required to bring a book with them each day.

Celebrations/Field Trips O.L.O.W’s policy states that students are to bring in items other than food to celebrate holidays or birthdays. A goody bag with appropriate non-food items can be sent home with each child at the end of the day. Field trips will be decided throughout the year. In order to be a chaperone, you need to have the background screening and the VIRTUS training form completed. A copy of both forms must be submitted to the office.

No Homework Coupon If a child receives a “no homework” coupon from me, they may skip their homework for one night of their choice. The slip must be returned to me the day the student does not do their work or the work will be completed at recess. They will receive a “no homework” coupon for many reasons: their birthday, I catch them being good, etc.

Book Report -Each month we will be studying a different reading genre and a different type of writing style. Students will use the skills learned in class to help them accomplish their “at home reading assignment”. Assignments will be due on the first Friday of the month unless otherwise stated. -Please make sure that the writing process is used on all assignments.
