Homework Given out on Wednesday Returned by Monday This will be an activity to reinforce maths, literacy or topic work Homework needs to be completed in pencil or black pen (if your child has a pen licence) Times table tests - Mention parental support encourage children to complete before the weekend to give children the chance to come and discuss any issues

Reading Reading every day for 10 minutes Reading records need to be signed each evening Signed at least once from over the weekend Children will read to class teacher in a guided session at least once a week and we record this in your child’s reading record. Upcoming reading workshop which goes into more detail about reading with your child at home. -Discuss book lists that will be coming (available at reading workshop) Also mention Maths workshop

Spellings & Phonics Grouped across the year Given out on Monday Returned on Friday Spelling books need to be in on a Friday Short tasks related to the spelling pattern or sound we are learning Spelling test on Friday

Sports Coaches Wednesday morning Indoor and outdoor kits needed in school at all times Please ensure your child's name is in all items

Topics Autumn 1 – What makes Manchester so amazing? Autumn 2 – Is the Croods based on fact? Stone age through to Iron age Spring 1 – What makes the Earth angry? Volcanoes Spring 2/ Summer 1 – Who were the Romans and what did they do for us? Summer 2 – Why do so many people go to Spain on their holiday? Discuss the removal of levels from NC and that they won’t be reported at parent’s evening We are working closely as a staff force to make sure that your child’s progress and attainment is being monitored There is an upcoming meeting for parents (3rd Nov) with Mrs Wild and Mrs Whittaker to discuss changes to assessment prior to parent’s evening
