It was an action packed and fun filled day enjoyed by all. Walkathon Committee 2017 What is the Walkathon? The Walkathon is OLQP’s major fundraiser. It is held the last day of Term 3 and involves the students along with their teachers walking along a designated walking path approved by the school with some fun activities along the way. At the end of the Walkathon the students enjoy a BBQ Sausage sizzle lunch in which parents are also invited to attend. Last year’s activities included Zumba, AFL, Boot Camp, Dance and Taekwondo depending on age. In 2016 we raised over $45,000 the highest ever fundraiser at OLQP to date and handed out over 90 prizes to some very excited students. For every $5.00 raised the student received a raffle ticket to go into a draw to win a prize. Prizes included two i-pads one for the highest school fundraiser and one in the general raffle, books, movie tickets, day passes, vouchers and a variety of family experiences. All our prizes where generously donated by a variety of businesses and our school community. It was an action packed and fun filled day enjoyed by all.

How did students raise money? Early in Term 3 Students are each given a sponsorship card. Students them ask family and friends to sponsor them. Students receive 1 raffle ticket for every $5.00 raised. There is no specific amount that students are required to raise. All money collected is due back to school first week in Term 4. What will the P&F Walkathon Committee 2017 be responsible for? - To be able to source / negotiate / assist in securing sponsor donated prizes suitable for primary aged school children by letter, phone call or face to face. -Assist if required to negotiate “kindly donated” activity stations as approved by teachers. -Assist in collating all sponsors advertising material to go home in a Walkathon Thankyou Pack the last week of term. With access to information and educational opportunities via parent forums and guest speakers, parents can become active participants in their child’s schooling. The PRC are here to provide you with helpful links to resources and support. We encourage and welcome your feedback and suggestions, because we are your elected representatives!
