November Newsletter 2018
Themes
This term we will be taking part in Children in need fundraising and following the children’s interests to plan weekly activities and learning experiences.
Parents Open Evening
We will be holding an informal open evening for all parents/carers on Monday 26th November 6.00pm – 7.30pm. There will be an opportunity for all parents to discuss their child’s progress with their key person.
All staff are involved in the open evening so are unable to provide any child supervision so if possible adults only to attend please. Appointment times can be arranged with your child’s key person wk beginning 19th November. Bizzy Bears values your views and opinions about the service we offer and there will be opportunities for you to share your opinions with us. If you are unable to attend and would like to meet with your child’s key person at an alternative time please speak to them to arrange this.
Wow Moments
We are so please with the children’s progress that they have already made at Bizzy Bears. When we see the children doing something we are proud of we make an observation on Tapestry. We are aware that the children also do a lot of learning at home and we would love to hear from you when you see then doing something that makes you proud. As well as putting it onto Tapestry we now have ‘Wow moment cards’. If you see your child doing something Wow then write it down and bring it in to share with us. An example (Maisie put her shoes on by herself). The Wow moments cards will be in each changing room. Thank you for your help. We look forward to reading them.
Collection times
A reminder that our sessions finish at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 3.00pm. Please can we ask that all parents and carers make sure that you are on time to pick up your child at the end of each session. We do understand that on occasions emergencies do happen but an increasing number of children are being picked up late from Preschool and this can cause them to become upset.
Policy of the month
We have a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that Bizzy Bears follows. To familiarise parents/carers with our policies this term we shall be focusing on one policy per month. This month it is our Complaints policy. A copy of this policy is displayed on the parents notice board in the corridor, in the policy book in the changing room and on our website. We can also parents a copy if requested.

2. Tots mornings in Partnership with St Andrews CEVA school.
We are continuing to work in partnership with St Andrews CEVA school in Ecton Brook to put on tots sessions for under 5’s in the local community. The sessions are be based at St Andrews CEVA school on Ecton Brook road in their community room and include fun, games, arts and crafts and refreshments. Please let family and friends know. There is no charge for this event. All welcome! For more information please see the poster on the parents board or speak to a member of staff.

Children In Need
To celebrate this years Children in need appeal, we will be holding a week of exciting fundraising activities from 12th-16th November: Monday 12th- Fancy dress day
Tuesday 13th – Spotty clothes day
Wednesday 14th – Pyjama day
Thursday 15th and Friday 16th- Cake sale
We will be holding a cake sale at the end of the sessions on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th and would welcome donations of cakes to sell to go alongside some that the children have been making in Preschool. Thank you.
Christmas sing along
At our previous parent voice meeting parents requested a Sing along session where parents and children can come together and sing the songs that your children sing when they are at Preschool. We thought this was a lovely idea. We are inviting all children and their families to join us on Friday 30th November in Christmas jumpers for a Christmas theme sing a long session from 2.00pm. We will be singing some of the children’s favourite songs and some Christmas songs that will feature in this years Nativity. There will be mince pies and mulled wine for grown ups and a treats for the children. We will also have a Christmas photo booth run by Laura from ‘The world through my eyes’. Bizzy Bears will receive the photographs on a memory stick and parents will be able to choose their own images. Photo’s will be 5x7 priced at £3.00 each, a percentage of any money raised will go towards the children’s Christmas party.
Christmas Nativity and Carol concert
We will be holding our Christmas Nativity on Friday 14th December at 11.15am. If your child does not attend a Friday morning session you are welcome to bring them in at 11.10am (dressed in their costume) to participate. Parents are welcome to join us at 11.15am for our concert. Your child will receive a slip w/b 26th November with their part and costume required. If any parent has difficulties finding a costume please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.
Christmas Party
Our party will take place during our session on Wednesday December 19th and will include the entertainer Silly Soapy, party food and a visit from Father Christmas. All children who are not in on that day are welcome to join us at 1.00pm for the party. There is no extra charge for the party. All parents are welcome to join us at 2.30pm to see our special visitor. We would welcome any parents that may be able to help with laying out the food for the party on the day. Please let a member of staff know if you are able to help. Bizzy Bears will close earlier at 2.30pm on Wednesday 19th December.
