Multi-Track Year-Round Calendar, Random Draw Process, Registration and Other Important Information Brown Elementary October 17, 2016

Definitions of Terms Multi-Track Year-Round (MTYR) School Calendar – A MTYR school calendar is a method to increase an elementary school’s capacity by having four (4) separate calendar tracks for each grade level at a school. The MTYR school calendar is designed so that only three (3) tracks are present at the school at any one time decreasing the current school enrollment by 25 percent. Does not address current overcrowding, just housing new students – in addition to current need of 3 schools

MTYR Calendar Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple Tracks All tracks, with the exception of Green track, start with the balanced calendar. (August 7, 2017) 165 school days for students with about 30 additional minutes per day.

MTYR Calendar NO early release Wednesdays NO half days on Fridays Track on/off days occur on Fridays. (see calendar) NO fall break, 2 weeks for winter, 1 week for spring, and same holidays as the balanced calendar

Notice & Process October November December January Families will be notified of the MTYR calendar changes for next school year prior to parent conferences that start on October 21st. November Families will turn in a Family Track Preference Form to their student(s) school. December Online Registration Opens January Random Draw meetings begin January 23rd and are completed by February 3

Random Draw To Assign Tracks: Brown Elementary Monday, January 23, 2017 6:00 pm MPR

Random Draw Process All families will receive a link to fill out their “Family Track Preference Form” via Survey Monkey. (November 14, 2016) Hard copies of the Family Track Preference Form will be made available for families as well.

Random Draw Process School personnel will assure that ALL families have their Family Track Preference From completed before the Random Draw Process. All families will be invited to the Random Draw which will take place on January 23rd @ 6:00pm.

Evening of Random Draw All families will be assigned a number and when a family’s number is drawn the school will look at the Family Track Preference Form that was completed by the family. Tracks will be assigned by each family’s preference based on track availability. All families will be mailed official notice of track preference within 10 business days.

Track Change Request MTYR Family Track Change Request Forms will be available in the main office at your student(s) school in March. Track changes occur on a first-come first-served basis and are at the Principal’s discretion. No track changes after the first day of school. (August 7, 2017)

Registration 2017-2018 Online (Infinite Campus) registration will open on December 5, 2016 for the 2017-2018 school year. All families are encouraged to register online after December 5, 2016. Families can register online at their student(s) school using the dedicated IC computer.

Kindergarten Registration In order for families of incoming Kindergarteners to receive a MTYR Family Track Preference Form, ALL Kindergarten students must be registered online at the students’ zoned school for the 2017/18 school year. The registration process will be considered complete once necessary documentation is taken to the school after completing the online registration. Please refer to the WCSD website for document requirements.
