Mission Statement In less than fifty words, state your goals for the business: Tell what you will do for customers, and how you will do it. Promise your customers that you will always do your best.

Slogan Write your business slogan here (a short, clever statement that represents the business).

My Qualifications Give details about your background that will help you run the business and make it a success: Where did you go to school? What did you study? Who were your teachers? What experience in the field do you have?

A Description of the Business Size: Number and dimensions of room(s) Plumbing fixtures such as sinks Closets How many? How big? Style/type of Furniture/Decoration Roles of Workers Number of Workers

Competitive Advantage What is special and different about your business? Why will customers come to your business instead of another existing business?

Location Include information about neighborhood, parking, public transportation, and visibility. Parking lot? Storefront? Windows? Signs?

Hours of Operation Include days open and if you offer service at request.

Price of Services List all the services you offer and add a price range.

Products What products will you use and sell in your business? Provide links to companies

Amenities What special touches or perks will you offer to your clients so they will remember you and come again? What is something you can give for free that will make your customers remember you and want to come back?

Business Concerns such as Insurance and/or Rental Lease What do you need to do to set up the business, such as rent a space, secure insurance and furnish it? What do you have to have in place before you can open your doors to customers? For example, how many stylists do you need to hire? What are their qualifications?

State Laws List three general laws about cosmetology businesses, such as licensing. List another three laws relating to your specific business, such as safety laws. Include the link to the New York State Appearance Enhancement Rules and Regulations. Be prepared to talk about it.

Competition Identify three businesses that will compete with your business. For each include the following: Name Address (how far from your location) How are they similar to yours? How are they different from yours?

Marketing Plan Describe your ideal customer. Describe your Target Client Group How will you get these customers to come to your business? Cite research that led you to your ideas 1. How many people did you talk to develop your ideas (survey)? 2. What ideas did they give you?)

Advertising How will you get people to learn about your new business? 1. How will you use social media? 2. Describe an ad you will use to inform everyone about your new business. 3. Where will you display this ad?

Start up Budget List everything you will need to open up your business, look up the prices, then do the math to get the total amount of money you will need to have before you can open the business.

Monthly Budget List your monthly expenses and total the amount: Rent Electricity Water Salaries Products Taxes

Salaries for Employees List the types of employees and how much each is expected to be paid. Also include a list of benefits (if any) you will offer to employees.

Policies for Employees List all your expectations for the employees, such as a Dress Code and Cell Phone Use Policy. List policies about breaks, sick time, absences, vacations and holidays. Describe any professional training you will offer.
