AP World Curriculum: What Makes This Course Important To You? You will explore the events of World History through the use and analysis of document, images, cartoons, quantitative data, and other primary sources. You will develop an understanding of major themes in World History, which will give greater insight and understanding of the forces that are shaping our world today.

AP World Curriculum: Rigor You must be a motivated and disciplined student to succeed in this course and on the exam. Even though good attendance and completing coursework are essential to success, they are not enough. Students will have to demonstrate their mastery of essential skills and content on college-level exams and essays. This will require a level of hard work and study that is new to many “honors” students.  You must be prepared for a heavy workload; you should plan on at least 6-7 hours a week.  Most students will struggle as they adjust to the workload, expectations, and pace. Those involved in extracurricular activities, taking additional AP classes, or who are employed should carefully weigh the demands of this course against their other commitments.

AP World Curriculum: Materials Traditions & Encounters 4th Ed.  Primary textbook. Can be checked out from library at the end of the school year or purchased used (in good condition) on Amazon for about $30. If you do not have internet access, please see your instructor.

Summer Work Once students are admitted to the class you will checked out a textbook and given a series of assignments to complete over summer break. Work will be posted and released to students by Friday, May 19, 2017. You will be completing: Chapters 1-6 from the class textbook – Traditions and Encounters. Formative Assessments on the summer work are due August 7, 2017 Summative Assessment Exam on the Summer assignment: Monday, August 14, 2017
