Travel Itinerary from Pittsburgh to Rome By: Katie Crist and Alyssa Fortes

Getting There Cost of Plane Tickets The flight would cost about $926.68. It would be a one way flight with 2 stops along the way. It would be from the Pittsburgh airport to the Rome International airport.

Getting There Immunizations Be up to date with regular shots. Also be sure to have the Hepatitis B vaccine. Passport The passport will cost $135.00

Getting There Currency The currency for Rome, Italy is Euros. The exchange rate is .764518 Euros for every USD. You will have 1,528.90 Euros once you convert your 2,000 USD.

Living There Living There “Originally built as a stadium in the first century for athletic contests and chariot races, Piazza Navona is lined with luxurious cafes and Baroque palaces and is the home to three lavish fountains. It was laid out in the 15th century on the ruins of the stadium. From 1650 to the late 19th century the square was sometimes flooded in summer and used for aquatic games and staged naval battles. The square still retains its oval shape. The modern piazza is a lively place, a place where both locals and tourists like to hang out. Artists gather in the square to paint and there are many entertainers and vendors selling souvenirs.” (http://goitaly.about.com/od/romeitaly/ss/piazzanavona.htm) I chose the Piazza Navona neighborhood because of its culture and cost. The apartments are very close to several historic landmarks and cafes. My time in Italy would be spent wisely because of these authentic features. I would also have the opportunity to meet many new people. The cost was the ultimate decider though. The average apartment costs 1200 euros a month, and most living areas are very nice. The Piazza Navona neighborhood would all in all be a perfect home for long- term stays.

Getting Around There The best way to get around Rome, according to several internet sources, is by Metro. The Metro is very cheap, and will cost roughly 64 euros a month for unlimited use. It also has two main routes, A and B. According to Wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome_Metro) the metro has 52 different stops, which will definitely get me around efficiently. If needed, walking is also a very easy way of transportation at no cost. Most things in Rome are 10- 15 minutes walking distance.

Playing There: Food Italy is known for its food. A good place to eat in Rome is Da Tonino. It features authentic Italian meals for the whole family. It is known for its classic recipes and has received great reviews.

Playing There: Tourism There are also several great places to visit in Italy. The Colosseum is a very popular historical site in the center of Rome. It is where gladiators used to fight to the death for the public’s enjoyment. Another place that I could tour is the Trevi Fountain. It is the largest Baroque fountain in Rome.

Playing There: Shopping Rome is a very expensive city and offers pricy designer brands such as Armani and Missoni. However it also has several boutiques and markets. These include the Via Sannio street market and Via del Corso which has many popular Italian shops.

Playing There: Sports Stadio Olimpico is the main sports venue in Rome. It has previously been used for 1960 Summer Olympics. Currently, you can watch a football, or soccer, match there. Another activity to participate in is the Rome City Marathon, it is held every spring and is an international event.

Playing There: Entertainment Rome has many operas, theaters, and festivals. Some theaters are even English-Speaking. One popular theater is the Ostia Theater. Many festivals are held in the summertime. A good way to experience the city’s beauty is by going to museums, such as the Capitoline Museum.
