Celebrations in our school By: Zsuzsa Bitter Eszter Konrád Dorottya Molnár Eszter Horváth

Convocation and Speech day When we have these events we wear our uniform. The uniforms are black and white. In summer we have a tie, but in the winter we have a waistcoat and a badge. We start each event with a church service held by the town’s minister. Afterwards, our headmaster summarizes what happened in this year. Furthermore, he informs us who performed best throughout the year. After the service we go to the classrooms and we get the school report or the programs for the next days and we go home.

Freshmen’s ball In October we have a ball for the new students. We would wear our uniform again. The new students will recive ther badge and tie on the ceremony. The ceremony takes place in the chapel and our minister holds a service for us. After thatthe new students go on stage from teacher. Later we takes the oath of the school. When the ceremony is over we go to the gym and we have a party. We are given some funny task from the older students.

Áprily night Every year we form small groups and we commemorate Aprily. Aprily was a popular Hungarian poet. Students pick one of his poems, play a musical instrument and we light a candle in memory of the poet. Usually this event has a really friendly atmosphere.

Tentamen gala We organize a Tentamen competition every year, which every student can take part in. The topics can be related to the subject of your choice. The teachers evaluate these presentations. They choose the best one.At the end of this season, we organize the gala Tentamen and the student with the best presentation gets an award.

Prom This is an event where the graduate students perform a variety of dances for example salsa, waltz, paso doble, rumba, tango etc. The girls wear white evening dresses and the boys wear a tuxedo. Finally all students get a ribbon as they are going to leave the school.

Christmas In December, we get the Christmas fever. Some days of december are celebrated, for example the advent. Every Monday, we light one candle on the wreath of Advent. On the 6th of December, Santa Clause arrives and we get some presents. Some students go to a nearby village and they perform a nativity play for the people and they wear costumes. On Christmas time, we give some presents for the others and of course we also get some presents. The students who offer presents to others are called angels. At the beginning of January, we have a New Year concert. The school’s students usually play the instruments.

Carnival Every year in February, we have a carnival which is similiar to Halloween. Every student wears a costume. The jury score the customs, and the winner gets a pizza or a cake. After the custume competition the big party begins in the gym.

The ”who knows what?” is an event in February where the students can show what they are the best at. The „who knows what?” is a competition, where the participants and classes complete. They preform dances, draw, recite poens, play musical instruments, or complete in different fields of science. Who knows what?

Easter the students in the Reformed Secondary School of Szentendre present the passion. We have a retreat with this events. The vicar gives a speech and then we talk about it in groups. Passion and Retreat

Sport day Every year in spring we have a sport day. It’s a hole day went in the school. The students go to the open-air museum. Competition is between classes usually we have some playful activities. Last year the groups of people hade to pull a tractor and have to carry some water in a set time.

What have we achieved? This is an event, where all classes present two dances, that they learned and practised all year. The first dance is tought by the teacher. The second dance is tought by our classmate. Of course, sometimes we argued some bagatelles, but in the end we always agreement together. In the end they choose the best teachers and gets an award or flowers.
