1 Welcome to Year 3!

2 The Year 3 team Cherry Class– Miss Clark Silver Birch Class– Mr Smith Judith, Sue and Flora will be supporting the classes throughout the week. Your child will also have specialist teachers for Music (Bemo/Tim) and PE (Mr Hill)

3 Home Learning and Reading
Home Learning will be handed out on a Friday and will be due back the following Wednesday. Reading record books at school daily Reading, spellings and times tables daily.

4 Special home learning projects
Once a week (on a Friday) one child will be chosen to complete our special home learning project – Meet the Master! If your child has been chosen to complete this project they will not need to complete the usual written home learning task for that week but will need to learn their spelling words and times tables.

5 ‘Meet the Master’ display
- In order for every child to feel valued and to improve their speaking and listening skills, there will be a display dedicated to them for a week They will need to make a poster telling the other children anything they are knowledgeable about (e.g. whales, Lego, dinosaurs, coding). -They can include photos or drawings.

6 Creative Curriculum In Year 3 we have developed an exciting programme of study following the new national curriculum. We passionately believe in following a creative approach to teaching. We have tried to link up our subjects in order to link learning and make it more meaningful. In order to bring learning to life we have also arranged some exciting, creative days to bring the topic to life.

7 Autumn– Stone Age to Iron Age
Fulham Palace workshop Monday 9th October

8 Spring– Exploring Inventors
Science Museum visit Monday 15th January

9 Summer-Romans History off the Page Monday 23rd April
This is a fantastic day where the children will be able to dress up and they will be taken back in time through role-play, songs and stories. They will take part in a variety of activities, and handle artefacts.

10 Music – Singing Project
We will be taking part in the Singing Project again thanks to the PTA! Every Friday morning we will have a singing session with specialist teachers from Wandsworth Schools’ Music Service. It is a 10 week project and will culminate with a concert in December – date to be confirmed with the project leaders.

11 We will need 3 adult helpers each week!
Swimming - Aspire There has been a change to what the children have been told! Each year 3 class will have one and a half terms lessons each. Cherry Class – Every Monday: 25th September – 5th February am Silver Birch Class – Every Monday: 19th February – 16th July am Every Monday children will need to bring to school: Swimming costume/trunks (no bikinis) Googles Swimming hat (girls hair tied back too) Towel Waterproof bag for wet gear. We will need 3 adult helpers each week!

12 PE Kit Children need to get changed for PE.
They can keep it on their peg and take it home at half term for a wash (or earlier if its smelly!) White t-shirt, dark shorts/leggings/joggers Trainers PE Kit

13 Going for Healthy Schools Silver Award!
Snacks at school Going for Healthy Schools Silver Award! Children can bring in a raw fruit or veg to enjoy at morning break. Children can have a water bottle at school to access in the classroom during transitions. Snacks before clubs – club teacher discretion.
