How to get involved at your school

What is Remember September? SADD’s annual month of activity aimed at promoting safe driving, raising SADD’s profile, connecting with the community and getting more young people involved. The idea is to use the month how it suits your school – you may choose to run one activity each week, hold a SADD day, run a month long competition or plan for whatever you can achieve!

Key steps to help you plan 1) Consider what format will work best at your school. Is it a day, a week or a whole month? 2) Think about the 6 SADD principles and consider the message you want people to understand from your activities – is there a specific road safety issue you want to address? 3) Check out the activities page at sadd.org.nz/activities for ideas 4) Schedule in the activities of your choice and work backwards to block out time to plan, arrange resources and get permission from your school TIP: You don’t have to do big activities, running a few small activities can actually be more effective

What’s available to help you? SADD’s wide range of posters, conversation cards, fold out wallet cards and stickers can all be ordered on the website There are 3 sample calendars on the website that have the month already planned for you. Check these out to see if any fit with your school The SADD team are here to help you at any stage of your planning – find our contact details here: sadd.org.nz/contact Check out SADD social media pages @SADDNZ for updates, inspiration and to hear what other schools are up to

Find the info pack on the website and talk to your teachers about getting registered Connect with SADD on social media @SADDNZ. We’d love to hear about your plans and see your activities!
