Welcome to your 1st Period Class Welcome to your 1st Period Class! I am going to go over general information with you now. Have a seat! Please get out your SCHEDULE and put it on your desk. If you do not have a schedule with you, please tell me now. Thanks!

TODAY’S SCHEDULE is your regular schedule you will have every day. 6th Grade 1st Period 7:55 - 9:01 2nd Period 9:04 – 9:54 3rd Period 9:57 – 10:47 4th Period 10:50 - 11:17   11:17 - 11:40 5th Period 11:43 – 12:33 6th Period 12:36 – 1:26 7th Period 1:29 – 2:19 8th Period 2:24 – 3:20

AGENDAS On the first page, write your name and your student ID number. Write your Advisory teacher’s name. Write your locker number and combination on your birthday page in your agenda.

Agendas Try not to lose it. The replacement cost is about $6.00, and it must be replaced. Try to keep it neat. Don’t fold or tear out the pages you have already used.

Hall Passes are in the back of your Agenda Hall passes are on the bottom of the page for each week. The sign out sheet for the media center is in the back of the agenda, and it should last the whole year. There is a row for each quarter

Student Arrival Procedures Students eating breakfast will report directly to the cafeteria. 6th and 7th grade students not eating breakfast will report to the grassy area outside of the cafeteria.

Student Arrival Continued Students may begin reporting to class at 7:47 AM. The tardy bell will ring at 7:55. Students who are late but arrive before 8:10 will report to 1st period and be marked tardy. Students who arrive after 8:10 will need to report to the attendance clerk and sign in.

Student Arrival Continued All students arriving on a late bus will need to report to the attendance clerk in the front hall and receive a pass to class.

Student Arrival (last one!) On rainy mornings or when it's below 40 degrees, 6th graders report to the cafeteria and sit at the tables near the windows.

Morning You should not be in the building before the bell unless you have a pass from a teacher. You are allowed to use the restroom and visit the library while waiting outside in the mornings. See teachers on duty for a pass. You must be quiet and still during announcements in the morning and afternoon. This is not the time to pack book bags.

When you enter the building you should go to your lockers and then promptly to 1st period. If you need to use the restroom, report to 1st period first and get a pass from the teacher. Please try to wait until after the announcements before going.

Dress Code This information is in your Agenda. Let’s discuss this now.

Gum Gum is not allowed at KMS under any circumstances. It is not allowed on the school grounds before, during, or after school.

Helpful Advice A lot of students are in the hallways. Please stay on your right as you move from one class to another. Do not run.

Sidewalks: Trash: Use the sidewalks and stay off the grass. There are trash cans everywhere. Use them.

Office Phone: For emergencies only Cannot call because you forgot your book bag, gym clothes, or homework

Detention Hall Meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Must have something to work on or a book to read No talking Cannot leave during detention hall – use the restroom before you go to d-hall Not reporting to d-hall will result in more severe consequences

Please know how you are getting home each day Please know how you are getting home each day. Make those arrangements before you come to school. If you are a walker, make sure you know your rainy day schedule.

Absences If you are absent, you must bring a note as to why you were absent. Take that note to the hallway by the main office, and you’ll receive an admit slip. You should have each teacher sign that admit slip. Don’t forget to check with each of your teachers and find out if you have any make-up work.

If you need to leave school early, bring a note that tells what time you need to leave. At the beginning of 1st period, take that note to the office to have it approved. Show that note to the teacher whose class you are in when you need to leave.

Tardies You have plenty of time to get to class, and you do not need to run or push. You will get a warning after 2 tardies to a class, and on the 3rd it will be written up. Detention hall will be assigned.

Clubs: There a several clubs that you can join Clubs: There a several clubs that you can join. Listen to the announcements for the details.

If you have a problem, please let a teacher know If you have a problem, please let a teacher know. There are plenty of teachers on duty at lunch and in the hallway between classes. Even if you don’t have the closest available teacher for a class, that teacher can still help you. We all are here to help all 6th graders.

That Stack of Papers on your Desk Today Give parents the calendar for your refrigerator. Look over Code of Conduct with parents. Both of you will sign and return the last page. Sign the Internet Permission Form for the library and return. Sign and return the Medical Form. Sign and return the Cell Phone Form.

You may visit your locker at anytime, but please remember you only have 3 minutes between class. Before 8th Period, get books for 8th and other books you need for the following day. Note you will NOT go to your locker again after school because you will have already gotten what you need before 8th period.

LOCKER ETIQUETTE If you have a bottom locker, watch your head! You may want to let the top locker person go first, and you can wait next to the wall. Be polite and be careful!

LUNCH Put your student ID on a sticky note to have with you if you buy lunch in the cafeteria line. If you’d like, go to the snack machine before entering cafeteria (you cannot go back out to the machines). Bring correct change. If the machine takes your money, you cannot get a refund.  Eat. Get a pass from a teacher if you need to go to the restroom.

Lunch Continued On nice days you will be allowed to go outside for the last 10 minutes or so of lunch After lunch, you will return to your class and have RR for approximately 20 minutes.

Student Dismissal Go to your locker after 7th period. Get what you need to take home and for 8th period! You will NOT be allowed to go back to your locker after 8th period! After announcements, walkers and car riders will be dismissed.

KMS students that participate in SA Athletics and those that ride home with SA students will not be dismissed with walkers and car riders.   They will be held in the classrooms with Bus riders.   Through the PA system, we will notify them as to when they may leave to walk to SAHS.

Walkers going to Millbrook will exit the front door of KMS. Car riders will exit to either the side car line or back car line (by the gym) If you have club meetings/activities or detention hall, you will dismiss with walkers and riders.

Bus riders will remain with 8th period until the bus is called via PA system.

EXTRA INFORMATION Some classrooms are cold. You may need to keep a light jacket with you.

LABELING Put your name on EVERYTHING! The 6th grade Lost and Found is the black bookcase/shelf near Mrs. Merriman’s room. The school-wide Lost and Found is by the cafeteria.

Have a great year!
