Presentation transcript:

These circles represent the essence of our sessions called “Implementation Innovation” or “I2”. SI 2014 is all about celebrating the successes initiated by the RttT grant. We know our LEAs have done wonderful things and we want to showcase them. In the same vein, we want to inspire others that they can do wonderful things as well. The different ideas represented by the circle are essential when implementing new initiatives. Information: the receiving or sharing of new ideas (data, research, instruction, etc.) These are ideas that may change the way you see situations. Innovation: is the creativity and the courage to bring about change Implementation: the actual doing…the work behind the new idea Improvement: to make the current state better (i.e. scores, attitudes, growth, proficiency, etc.) The circle represents that these ideas act in a cyclical motion where each one has to be tweaked or fine tuned in order for improvement to continue to be made. Please explain the ideas behind the I2 sessions. The slide can be used where it best fits into your presentation.

Indicate group name here Job-Alike Indicate group name here Materials needed: Four Corner Charts posted in each corner of the room. “Other” posted on a desk in the middle of the room. Index cards for ticket out the door

Session Goals: Provide an opportunity for those with like jobs to network across the region Create a solution-oriented forum for problem solving Gain multiple perspectives on key regional issues The primary purpose of this session to set the stage for collaboration across the region with others who share your job responsibilities. This is YOUR session.

Code of Cooperation Conversations are solution-oriented Input from all group members enriches the whole group conversation Respect the contributions of others: One group member speaks at a time Your voice should only be heard by your group Does anyone have something to add or take away from these ground rules. Give me a thumbs up if you can agree to the Code.

Issues for Discussion One issue in each corner with guiding questions is intended to start a conversation Another “un-named” topic in the center of the room for those who want to discuss a different topic Take a moment to decide which issue you’d like to discuss first. You will have an opportunity to discuss more than one topic. The guiding questions are only intended as conversation starters. The facilitator might pick one to get the conversation rolling and/or the group may redirect the conversation in a different way. Discuss what is important to you!

Discussion Groups After you move, break into groups of 4-6 people who are interested in the same topic. Each group needs a recorder and facilitator At the end of the conversation the recorder will capture 3 big ideas or questions that the group discussed on a Google form. The facilitator will keep the conversation moving.

Signals Groups will be able to change topics every 15 minutes. This sound will be your signal that it’s time to switch groups. You have the option to stay in the same group. Facilitators will use their own signal (lights flicker, a chime, clap hands, etc.). Please indicate the signal you will use on this slide.

Ready to Go Move to the corner of most interest to you Create groups of 4-6 Designate a recorder and facilitator. You’ll get a signal to move again in 15 minutes.

Code of Cooperation Conversations are solution-oriented Input form all group members enriches the whole group conversation Respect the contributions of others by: One group member speaks at a time Your voice should only be heard by your group Leave this up during the conversations

Recorders Use the laptop in your group’s area. Link here Write three big ideas or questions that were at the heart of your group’s conversation. Submit. The summary of conversations will be available at the end of the day.

Ticket Out the Door Name one thing that you gained from this session that you would have missed by not attending? What would have made the session more meaningful for you? Who will you most likely connect with from this session after the Institute? Use index cards to collect this information. Ask participants to number their responses and leave them on a designated desk on the way out. Room facilitators should summarize the feedback and give it to the Job-Alike leader for your region.

Thank you! You can find your group’s key ideas on the SI 14 Wiki You’ll be able to see the perspectives of others who discussed the same issues. Please return desks and chairs to their original place.
