Reformation The Reformation was an attempt to rid the Catholic church of corruption & abuse and to make religious practices available to every man & woman by making music in the common language. Counter-Reformation Counter-Reformation was led by the Catholic Church to revive Catholic principles Polyphonic music was further developed 8

Printing Music began to be printed around 1473 using carved woodblocks 1501 – 1st printing of polyphonic music, using movable type. As printed music was more accessible, people learned to read music, to sing & to play instruments. 9
