Victorious Faith 1 John 5:1-6

The Importance of Faith Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 1 John 5:1

The Inevitable Victory For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17

The Inevitable Victory 1. John uses this word more than any other N.T writer. 2. In each of the letters to the seven church of Asia is included the idea of overcoming. 3. The word literally means to carry off the victory.

Conclusion Other New Testament writers emphasize the importance of faith in becoming God’s children. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:26-27

Conclusion 2. Faith is the essence of the Christian life. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
