Introduction North Sydney Premier Cricket and Roseville Shires Cricket have identified the lack of a well defined pathway as a gap in our junior development program. Commencing in 2016-17 both clubs have agreed to work together to jointly address this gap. This document outlines how the clubs jointly intend to implement the program and contains important information for those wishing to participate. Pathway Goals Provide a clearly defined pathway for junior cricketers wishing to transition into senior cricket. Ensure junior cricketers within our catchment have development opportunities that befit their stage of cricket skill level. Improve the supply of local junior talent into the Premier and Shires cricket system in North Sydney and Roseville. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Pathway History September 2011 SCA endorses transferability of u19s between Shires (3rd/4th) and Grade (5th) August 2014 age restriction lifted to u21s. Successful pathways implemented at St.George- Georges River, Manly-Warringah. July 2015 David Graham becomes president on NSDCC and commences dialogue with SCA regarding Pathway alliance. May 2016 NSDCC and RDCC meet and plan program. August 2016 program is launched. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Pathway Structure Target demographic of 16-21 year olds playing cricket (or recently played) for Roseville and North Sydney in the NSJCA competition. Pathway candidates aiming for entry level cricket in senior cricket (Shires or Premier). Premier cricket aspirants capped at 3rd grade Shires level to allow transferability into 5th grade Premier cricket (per the SCA exemption rules). Players not selected for Premier (5th) are available for Shires. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Pathway Structure (cont’) Pathway players register at either Roseville or North Sydney. Pathway squad numbers may be greater than positions available and therefore pathway players only pre-pay for five (5) matches at a time. $100 pre-payment to club Once 5 games completed player pre-pays another 5. Total payment capped at $300 per season No rebates regardless of games played/not played. RDCC and NSDCC use best endeavours to ensure players gain opportunities but selections based on merit Registration payments cover insurance, coaching, clothing, ground and equipment hire North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Pathway Season Outline Joint Roseville and North Season pre season session at [SCG Indoor] [* August 2016]. Pathway training at Bon Andrews (North Sydney No2) 4-6pm Friday evenings commencing September [*] 2016. Selected Pathway players may also be invited to attend Premier Grade trainings (invite only basis). Pathway Manager will liaise with Premier and Shire selectors to assist in team lists each round North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Pathway Resources NSDCC has some of the best outdoor turf net facilities in Sydney located a short distance from North Sydney station. Bon Andrews will be getting a $400,000 upgrade at the end of the season and the training facility will be at a first class level. NSDCC is working with CNSW on an indoor facility initiative which we hope to unveil next season. NSDCC has 3 level 2 qualified coaches and anticipate that at least one of these will be available at each Pathway session. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Expectations Pathway players are entering a commitment to be available for the 2016-17 season. Neither club can afford to waste scarce resources on players who are unavailable for selection. If players are unavailable they must communicate this with their registered club at least one match prior to selections (unless unavoidable and in that event ASAP). Players habitually unavailable will be cut from the Pathway squad. Players are expected to train to improve and under the instruction of the coaching staff. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17

Expectations Pathway players are expected to train. The purpose of the pathway is to gain entry and that requires a commitment to continuous improvement. Pathway players must wear training apparel at all training sessions. North Sydney Premier Cricket-Roseville District Shires Pathway Program 2016-17
