What is AOEA? Four-Year Program Smaller Learning Community (cohort) STEM Focus: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Affiliated with the National Academy Foundation (NAF) www.naf.org national network of education, business, and community leaders who work together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready 2016-17: nearly 97,000 students attended 67 NAF academies across 38 states, including DC and the US Virgin Islands. In 2016, NAF academies reported 96% of seniors graduated with 92% of graduates planned to go to college Only Offered at JMRHS in Cabarrus County

Cohort Group – Rising 9th grade students in Cabarrus County Schools Interdisciplinary approach to curriculum Project-based Learning Career Readiness Job Shadowing Internships Apprenticeships/Pre-Apprenticeships Community and Industry field trips Integration with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Opportunity to earn industry certifications Potential college credit

AOEA 4-year Course of study Note: Academy courses and course sequencing may change as industry evolves.

AOEA Tracks Students must complete at least one of the three Academy tracks. Engineering – STEM Cluster Advanced Manufacturing - Manufacturing Cluster Robotics – STEM Cluster Students do have the opportunity to complete all clusters. The course of study is a suggestion.

Naftrack certification Multi-method approach to assess students on a broad range of skills. Student performance is measured not only through end-of-course exams, but also through culminating projects and internships. Upon successful completion of NAFTrack Certification, students are eligible for NAFTrack Certified Hiring! a commitment made by top companies to give special consideration to NAFTrack certified job applicants More INFO!

Electives and extra-curricular Activities Students may take other electives such as AP, Foreign Languages, Art, CTE, etc. AOEA will not conflict with sports or clubs
