Egyptian Network of HEP Egypt has a joint agreement with CERN since 2006 and in March 2010, ENHEP got the approval of the counsel meeting To promote scientific collaboration between researchers and Egyptian academic institutions To train young scientists in assumption and experimental of particle physics and data analysis, etc To engage with one of the most challenging international collaborations CERN Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III

ENHEP Aims Establish experimental expertise for LHC accelerator parts and high standard electronic equipment. Develop simulation techniques that have environmental and industrial impact. Take a leading part in the expected revolution in particle physics. . Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III

Our Contribution Purchase of materials for a number (~ 25) of forward RPC chambers to be assembled at CMS site. Training and support of a number of Egyptian students for assembly of Muon chambers at CMS site. Completion of the instrumentation of a laboratory to allow full testing of a number of RPC chambers in Egypt. Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III

ENHEP Structure The ENHEP consists of the nine institutes: Cairo University Alexander University Ain Shams University Helwan University Suez Canal University Fayoum University The British University in Egypt Zewailcity Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III

Cairo University Cairo University is the oldest university in Egypt, Middle East and Africa . Cairo University includes 23 faculties and institutes They are serving about 250,000 students with 3,158 faculty members, 2,361 assistant lecturers & demonstrators and 12,233 employees. Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III

Ain Shams University Ain Shams University is the third older university in Egypt. Ain Shams University includes 17 faculties and institutes serving about 200,000 students. Faculty of Sciences has ten departments and has 33 graduated programs. Dr Amr Radi 19 April 2012 CMS GEM Upgrade Workshop III
