MEDIA LITERACY Isabelle M

DIGITAL ISSUES A digital footprint is the information one puts on social media. How Is Personal Privacy Achieved? Personal privacy is achieved when you limit the amount of personal information you put on the internet. For example, you should keep your phone number, address, and age to yourself when using social media. This reduces the risk of online predators. When using media such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter ect. You should only add the people you know personally. Internet friends can be fun but they are also potentially dangerous.

Why Should Individualism Be Respected Why Should Individualism Be Respected? As you know, everyone in the world is different from each other. Not everyone will have the same interests as you. It is important not to judge people for the way they dress, how they look, their hobbies, or their lifestyle. We are all individuals and something separates us from being the exact same as everyone else. If you were passionate about something you wouldn’t want to be made fun of for it. If you don’t have something nice to say it shouldn’t be said. You should always be treating others the way you would like to be treated.

MY PERSONAL EXPERENCES I know what it’s like to be cyber bullied. Over the past few years I’ve had a few issues with girls being rude over the internet. I am very cautious to be nice to others while speaking on social media. It’s really important to know that when you post something rude on the internet everyone is able to see it. This is not only unnecessary but it also makes you look like a bad person to be making fun of peers on social websites. I keep most of my information on social media extremely private. I feel safe using the web and I have settings on my accounts that keep my information safe from people I don’t want to get a hold of it. Internet safety is a serious thing because social media is becoming such a large part of our lives. While using the internet be safe and be smart.

REFLECTION My Digital Tootprint: I would say my digital footprint is at a minimum, I only talk to close friends on the internet and all of my personal information is safe. I add only the people I know well and my accounts are private so I can review who wants to see my photos before they can. Media Topic: The media topic that interests me the most is cyber bullying or how social media effects the confidence of people all over thee world. I think cyber bullying should be stopped and social media distorting the image of beauty should be unacceptable. Photos shouldn’t need to be edited or photo shopped because that gives men and women a fake idea of what is real. Not all women are thin and have perfect skin, not all men have huge muscles. Every single person is different and there is no defining the word beauty with an image.

Cyber Security Risks: There are many risks involved with using the internet but the one that concerns me the most is when men disguise themselves as young girls and try to get girls to meet them somewhere. You should never ever talk to someone you don’t know or someone you don’t trust on social media. There are dangerous consequences with some of the choices that can be made. Another cyber risk is money scams. Don’t click any links you don’t trust because people can hack into your system and steal money from you or bug your computer. Do not open any untrusted emails or messages. Internet safety should be kept in mind at all times.
