Introducing HOSA In the Classroom

HOSA: part of the HSE Curriculum.

The classroom is teacher-led. HOSA is student-led.

HOSA also provides opportunities for: Leadership development. Personal achievement. Community service. Connections with the health care community.

What is HOSA? a scholastic student organization. a cross between student council, honor society, and an athletic team --- and it’s all about preparing yourself for a future health career.

Your HOSA chapter is one of thousands of HOSA chapters across the United States.

HOSA chapters promote career opportunities in health care by providing YOU with opportunities for: Fun Learning Achievement What it is/how it fits into the health science program (creed, colors, motto, history) Reasons for joining HOSA Membership classes and levels Purposes and goals of the organization Typical HOSA activities at various levels:  Competitive Events  Conferences  Civic, community service activities  Career-oriented activities  Social activities Sample calendar of activities Awards and recognition Publications and services Support of HOSA by:  U.S. Department of Education  National Association of Secondary School Principals  Health Science Education Division of the American Career and Technical Association  National Advisory Council on Career/Technical Education Steps in organizing a Chapter Membership and Chapter affiliation process

How do I join? Pay local, state and national affiliation fees. Your advisor will list your name on the chapter affiliation form. Membership is for the entire school year and following summer.

What is the value of HOSA? learning and sense of achievement gained from chapter activities. The value of HOSA is active HOSA members are better prepared to succeed in their chosen profession.
