Presentation Concerted Action On Logistics, Supply & Demand Chain Management In Europe 4th Framework Programme – DG TREN Starting date: 01/01/1999, duration: 36 months Partners: EXPERTEL CONSULTING METTLE ISL CAT Groupe

Objectives Collect and analyse current information on national, European and global strategies for RTD on logistics, SDCM and specifically including air, land and sea cargo intermodal transportation. Identify future research needs in above areas. Identify and demonstrate the potential of some promising innovative intermodal transport concepts Design conceptual road maps for the implementation of selected new logistics concepts.

Activities LOGICAT Steering Committees: Six Steering Committee Representatives of Member States and independant industrial organisations. LOGICAT workshops and Ad-Hoc working groups: Six on-site workshops (Paris, Wien, Goteborg, Duisburg, London, Oporto). To develop close links with the Member States and to disseminate LOGICAT work at the national level. EU/US Forum Fourth Forum on Intermodal Freight Transport in Europe and the United States, April 2001, Genova, Italy.

Results D2: State of the Art Objectives: to highlight the main research trends, to illustrate them with a selection of projects, to draw some conclusions or remarks regarding further research needs. Identification of research projects dealing with Logistics, SCM and Intermodal transport - Five main research activities: Logistics and SCM trends Logistics and SCM tools Intermodal Transports Urban Distribution Efficient Market Place

Results (cont.) D4: The EU Perspective for RTD on Logistics and Supply and Demand Chain Management To present a wide perspective of EU needs in RTD as expressed during the LOGICAT activities at the European and national levels D5: the Effects of E-Commerce on SCM and Logistics in Europe

Results (cont.) D6: Road maps Implementations of the recommendations stated in the LOGICAT work, on the basis of what the Member States and the other transport actors expressed all along the project. Methodological tool for the EC, the Member States and / or the industrial, commercial and Logistics sectors in order to get a more flowing and environmental and social-friendly Logistics networks.
