Title 1 According to the U.S. Department of Education, the purpose of Title 1 funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”

Title 1 Schools and funding The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding known as Title I funds to local school districts to meet the needs of at-risk and low-income students. Enacted in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title 1 is committed to closing the achievement gap between low-income students and other students.

Title 1 Designation Status The number of students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program is used to determine if a school qualifies for Title 1 funding. A school may be designated as target-assisted or school wide. For an entire school to qualify for Title 1 funds, at least 40% of students must enroll in the free and reduced lunch program.

Designation status Bradwell Institute has been designated as a Schoo lwide Title I program. Based on data from the 2016 Title I School Improvement Plan, 63.44% of Bradwell students receive free and reduced lunch.

Bradwell Institutue Mission Statement Our mission at Bradwell Institute is to provide a safe, supportive environment where students are given an opportunity to reach academic excellence and fulfill their civic and social responsibilities.

School Goals School Improvement Plan (SIP) is available on the Bradwell website: www.bradwellinstitute.org SIP is reviewed and edited by the staff and the leadership team each year with parent and student involvement required Needs are based on numerous parent, teacher, student surveys and various standardized assessments (GMAS EOC, SLO, Student Growth)

Measurable School goals for our School BI will increase the number of students scoring proficient on the GMAS End of Course tests in all content areas by 5% BI will improve culture and climate by decreasing student referrals by 5% and increasing parent involvement by 10% BI will improve the CCRPI score from and 82 to an 85.

Information on school performance and student’s individual achievement District and school performance information is sent home with students annually. Information is available on the district and school’s website. Student results from standardized tests are sent home with students when received by the school. Parent Portal, available online, provides results for classroom assignments and assessments. Progress reports are sent home at mid-nine weeks. Report cards are sent home quarterly.

Information about curriculum and assessment GMAS End of Course tests, SLO tests and common unit assessments are used to measure student success. Standardized assessment data will be compiled to determine student growth.

Highly Qualified (Hi-Q) Teachers Parents’ right to know: In compliance with the requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Bradwell Institute would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s). The following information may be requested:  Whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for certification for the grade level and subject areas in which the teachers provides instruction; Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived; The college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher; Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessional, and if so, their qualifications.

Use of Title 1 funds Use of funds rests with each school. Can be used to improve curriculum, instructional activities, parental involvement, increase staff and program improvement. 1% of Title 1 funds must be set aside to budget for Parent Involvement.

Title 1 Parent Involvement Ensured by Georgia Department of Education’s Parent Engagement Program mandated by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA).  Schools and districts must ensure that strong strategies are in place to: 1) build capacity to involve parents/stakeholders in an effective partnership with the school; and 2) share and support high student academic achievement

Parent Involvement Budget Parents may have input on how the Title 1 Parent Involvement Budget is used through a parent survey that will be sent home with the first report card. Currently the Title I budget contains a set aside to provide for a Parent Resource Room.

District Parent Involvement Policy Liberty County School System has developed a parent involvement policy: District Parent Visitation —see 2016-17 Student Code of Conduct booklet Parent Workshops: parents are invited to attend information meetings and workshops at the school Parent Compact: Parent input is extremely important in accordance with the state Parent Communication: will be through the use of school marquee, One Call system, LCSS website, Flyers, Calendars or Newsletters

School Parent Involvement Policy BI, with parent input, has developed a parent involvement policy that describes how the school will provide opportunities for parent involvement: Annual and regular parent meetings will be convened to discuss the school wide program, including stakeholder’s rights to be involved in the school plan. Parents and community members serve on the school governance team. Parent meetings are held during the school day and outside school hours. All parents are invited to attend parent meetings and are given access to the school improvement plan

Opportunities for Involvement E-mails and phone calls from teachers Teacher websites accessed through BI school website One-Call Now- telephone call system used daily to contact parents about such things as absences, discipline referrals, classroom behavior, and classroom performance. Parent Volunteers: parents can volunteer to work in the school with various duties after completing an application with the parent involvement coordinator.

Parent Portal- view the student’s grades, as well as future and missing assignments, accessible 24 hours a day and seven days a week through internet Parent/Teacher Conference Calendar Parent Involvement Coordinator: Mrs. Kathy Shutts and Mrs. Angie Wilson serve as a direct connection with parents, guardians and stakeholders..

Response to Parent Questions Parents and community members will be given timely responses to written or verbal concerns. Information from parent surveys help us to determine areas of need and to make revisions in the school improvement plan. Point of contact: Angie Wilson (912) 876-6226
