3 Title I Annual Parent Meeting
Tri-Cities High School September 25, TCHS Commons **All Parents/Guardians of Students Attending TCHS, Stakeholders, and Community Members have been invited to this meeting in multiple ways.

4 What is a Title I School? Title I is a federally funded programs began under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). The purpose of Title I- is to ensure that ALL children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. Tri-Cities High School participates in the Title I, Part A, Section 1116 of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) School-wide Program

6 How does our school participate in the Title I Program?
Direct Instruction- Teacher salaries and benefits Support technology for students to use at home and at school Support Teachers serving students in the classroom to provide extra support Parent Engagement-Parent workshops, two-way communication for families and staff, and community linking efforts Parent Resource Office-support information, HAC training, and supplies Improvement of Instruction-Teacher professional development

7 What are our school’s Title I schoolwide requirements?
Providing Staff with adequate training, professional learning, resources, and materials to enhance teaching and to work effectively with families Sharing of information: TCHS School Improvement Plan Identifying and providing support for students that need additional academic resources Setting goals for improvement and using data driven research to increase student achievement

8 TCHS Schoolwide Program Past Goals…
TCHS School Goals (SY17-18): By the end of SY18, TCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring at the proficient and distinguished performance level on the Algebra I EOC assessment from 33% to 50% and on the American Literature EOC assessment from 60% to 80%.

9 TCHS Schoolwide Program Present Goals…
TCHS School Goals (SY18-19): By the end of SY19, TCHS will increase the percentage of students scoring at the proficient and distinguished performance level on the Algebra I EOC assessment by a 5% increase and on the American Literature EOC assessment by a 6% increase.

11 Programs and Supports Tutorials are offered to students:
Monday-CTAE/Fine Arts/PE/JROTC Wednesday-Mathematics/Social Studies Thursday-English Language Arts(ELA)/Science *All tutorials run from 3:45-5pm. **Sweep buses are available to provide students transportation home. Parent Engagement Academic workshops are offered to parents to help them assist their students at home.

14 What is required by law for Parent and Family Engagement?
As mandated by the Every Student Succeeds Act of (ESSA), schools and districts must ensure that strong strategies are in place to: 1) Build capacity to engage parents and stakeholders in an effective partnership with the school 2) Share and support high student academic achievement. 3) Provide full opportunities for parents with limited English proficiency, parents of migratory children, and parents with disabilities. 4) Provide Information and school reports in a language that parents can understand, such as translated flyers or an interpreter present at meetings.

15 What is the school’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan?
Each school that receives Title I funds must jointly develop, review and revise, agree with, and distribute to parents and family members of children receiving services a written Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). The Parent and Family Engagement Plan outlines how the school will implement programs, activities, and procedures for the engagement of parents in Title I programs. The plan will establish the school’s expectations for parent and family engagement and how the school will carry out the parent and family engagement requirements.

16 What is a School-Parent Compact?
Each school that receives Title I funds must jointly develop, review and revise with parents, students and teachers, a School-Parent Compact as part of the school-level parent and family engagement policy. The School-Parent Compact is an agreement that outlines how parents, the entire school /staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high standards.

17 Does my child’s teacher meet professional qualifications?
Parents have the right to know the qualifications of their child’s teacher and if they meet the “Highly qualified” status. In compliance with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Fulton County Schools informs parents that you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s). If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teacher’s or paraprofessional’s qualifications, please contact our school at

18 How is the Title I Parent and Family Engagement money spent?
Title I funds are used for parental engagement that includes support to facilitating transition from MS to HS and from HS to College and Career Readiness Parent Liaison Parent Resource Office Curriculum design, implementation, and professional development Family & Community engagement targeted to building the capacity of Parent engagement and more

19 What opportunities does the school provide for Parent Engagement?
Parents have the right to be involved in the planning and implementation of the parent engagement program in this school. Parents are invited every Spring to be a part of reviewing and revising the School–Family Compact and the Parent Family Engagement Plan that is distributed to all parents. 20 How responsive will the school be to my questions when staff is contacted?
Please contact our staff at any time. We are here to provide two- way communication. We use , school newsletters, School-messenger, monthly Family/Community-Engagement calendars, school websites, our marquee and more to let you know what is happening at TCHS.
