An undergraduate conditional admission program to Drexel University 3-4 terms of study that include: Intensive academic English University credit courses IELTS or TOEFL preparation Academic advising Community Bridge activities What is Gateway?

Program Courses 2015-2016

Listening/Speaking and Reading/Writing levels are assigned after placement tests. Test preparation classes are based on original entrance test. Language Courses

IELTS administered every month on Drexel campus: www.drexel.edu/elc TOEFL administered weekly in Philadelphia area: www.ets.org (After the ELC becomes an iBT test center , students must take the TOEFL iBT at Drexel.) Testing

Students are required to show steady progress in ALL courses. For English Language Center courses, they must:  Achieve final grade of 75% (C) in all courses Satisfy attendance requirements to maintain I-20 status For Drexel courses, they must: Achieve a minimum 2.0 GPA (C) IN EACH COURSE Achieve a 2.50 or 2.75 cumulative GPA by the end of the program, depending on the selected major For the TOEFL iBT and IELTS, they must obtain these scores:   Fall Winter Spring Summer TOEFL iBT 53 62 70 74 IELTS 5.0 5.5 6.0 6.0 If any of the above criteria are not met, students will be allowed ONE term to improve (a probationary term). Students not meeting progression criteria in the next term may be advised out of the program. Progress in Gateway

Drexel Matriculation Requirements Complete at least 3 terms of the GATEWAY Program And Achieve cumulative GPA of 2.5 (C+/B-) or 2.75 (B/B-) in Drexel University courses and 75% (C) in English Language Center courses  Reach standardized test scores as required by the Admissions Office TOEFL iBT 79 IELTS 6.5 Satisfy Community Bridge requirements Obtain a letter of recommendation from the ELC Drexel Matriculation Requirements

Intercultural Community Bridge An extracurricular component of the Gateway program Community Bridge provides participants with opportunities to learn about different cultures as well as a chance to share their unique experiences with each other. There are opportunities to: practice English learn about Drexel University and Philadelphia form relationships with members of the Drexel University and Philadelphia community Students are placed into a community family: Three Gateway students One matriculated Drexel University student One Drexel University employee or Philadelphia community member Families meet once a month to do activities in the city Intercultural Community Bridge

Eligibility Requirements Applicants must be academically qualified Gateway is not designed for students with college/university experience. Have standardized English proficiency test scores in the following range: TOEFL score from 53 to 73/78 (62 for Winter) IELTS score from 5.0 to 5.5/6.0 (5.5 for Winter) These are minimum standards for consideration, but do not guarantee admission.
