2 For students who want to study at Drexel University, the first question is: Which Drexel program should they apply to? TOEFL scores of 73 or higher or IELTS scores of 6.0 or higher: Apply directly to the university for undergraduate admission. Freshmen are admitted only for the Fall term. The 2016 application deadline is January 15. If you scores are lower?

3 Which Drexel program? TOEFL scores from 53 to 73, or IELTS scores from 5.0 – 5.5: Apply for conditional admission to the International Gateway program through Drexel ELC. Gateway applicants SHOULD NOT submit undergraduate applications to Drexel! The deadline for Gateway applications is April 30. The Gateway program starts in the Fall term (September) and in the Winter term (January).

4 Which Drexel program? Students with no test scores, or have TOEFL scores under 53 or IELTS scores under 5.0: Apply for the Intensive English program at Drexel ELC. No test scores or transcripts are required for admission to the Intensive English program. Students can apply on a term-by-term basis, but they should apply early because enrollment fills up quickly. A $100 application fee is required with the online application.

5 The second question is: What is International Gateway?
Drexel International Gateway is a month (3 or 4 term) conditional admission program that prepares students for full-time undergraduate study at Drexel University. For those in with scores in Gateway range…

6 What is Gateway? 3-4 terms of study that include:
Intensive academic English University credit courses IELTS or TOEFL preparation Academic advising Community Bridge activities

7 International Gateway provides:
Real faculty: Up to 21hours of university credit for core academic courses in mathematics, sciences, and communication, taught by outstanding faculty in the Drexel College of Arts and Sciences English language courses plus IELTS or TOEFL preparation courses taught by faculty in the CEA-accredited Drexel English Language Center. Real support: Individualized advising for academic success The Intercultural Community Bridge program helps students make contact with and experience American university students, campus life, and their community. Real success: Preparation for full-time undergraduate degree programs in majors including bioscience, communications, computer science, engineering, business, and more.

9 Intercultural Community Bridge An extracurricular component of the Gateway program
Community Bridge provides participants with opportunities to learn about different cultures as well as a chance to share their unique experiences with each other. There are opportunities to: practice English Learn about Drexel University and Philadelphia from relationships with members of the Drexel University and Philadelphia community Students are placed into a community family that meets once a month for on and off campus activities that enrich their college experience Participation in Community Bridge is mandatory for all Gateway students.

10 Academic Admission Criteria
Gateway | 10 Academic Admission Criteria International Gateway applicants must: Be academically qualified for admission to Drexel University. We do not pre-screen or offer evaluations of academic qualifications without a complete application. For Fall 2016 admission, applicants must have graduated from high school in 2014 or later. Students who have attended a college, university, graduate or professional school are not eligible for International Gateway admission.

11 Language Proficiency Requirements for International Gateway
TOEFL scores from 53 to 73 IELTS scores from 5.0 to 5.5 These are the minimum standards for consideration but do not guarantee admission. There are no hard and fast rules, but sub-scores will be reviewed and considered in admission decisions.

12 Application Instructions
Gateway | 12 Application Instructions Complete the online Admissions Application for International Gateway following the instructions on the website. Applicants will need to create a Login ID and 6-digit PIN so that they can return to the application if needed.

13 Application Instructions
Gateway | 13 Application Instructions Submit 4 years of high school transcripts. Students currently in grade 12 must submit the first half of their senior year.

: Gateway | 14 Application Instructions Submit an official TOEFL or IELTS score report as follows: For TOEFL, use school code 2194 (Drexel University) For IELTS, request your testing center to send an official report to Drexel ELC.

Gateway | 15 Application Instructions Mail transcripts and test scores with the following items to Drexel ELC: Completed International Gateway Application Checklist (PDF on ELC website) Completed Financial Certification and I-20 Application (PDF on ELC website) Original bank document or other financial guarantee letter, as described on the form Photocopy of the passport bio page $100 application processing fee, payable online or by bank draft, check or money order

Gateway | 16 Application Instructions Send all application materials to: Drexel ELC International Gateway program 229 N. 33rd Street Philadelphia, PA USA DO NOT send materials to the admissions office or any other address at Drexel University! This can significantly delay the application process.
