Survey done by the Department of Health and Children Results: 29% of 13 year olds ( 1st and 2nd years) are only doing the required amount of exercise (1 hour each day). 13% of 15 year olds (3rd and Transition years) are doing 1 hour of exercise a day.
“I’m not doing it because none of my friends are” WHY? “I’m not doing it because none of my friends are” - 2nd year student.
When asked would they like to exercise more In 1st year out of 41 surveyed 90% said they want to do more exercise. In 2nd year out of 35 surveyed 83% said they want to do more exercise. In 3rd year out of 46 surveyed 91% said they want to do more exercise. Out of all 142 students 88% said they would like to do more exercise.

What encourages them to exercise. It’s fun! Being fit and healthy Takes their minds off daily problems and relieves them of stress. The pressure to be slim and not getting fatter.
