The Achievement Academy Ashton T. Hamme II Achievement Academy, SWP Chair Christopher E. Knight Achievement Academy, SWP Co-Chair I want to thank and recognize my Co-Chair, Brother Christopher Knight

The Achievement Academy What is the Achievement Academy? What is the importance of the Achievement Academy? What is your role as a Mentee in the Achievement Academy? What should you expect from the Achievement Academy?

What is the Achievement Academy? African Proverb: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Being my Brother’s Keeper (Mark Colomb, Jackson Alumni) Achievement Academy Mission: to promote the development and advancement of undergraduate members into graduate and professional schools through effective mentoring and advocacy.1 1. We all know about the Diamonds in the Rough Guide Right program. All brothers here wear the diamond and the achiement academy’s goal is to polish the diamond that we are. 2. Value Added to our Bond (Bridging the gap between Alumni and UG Brothers), Investing our time, Access to Achieving Brothers. Two of many reasons why we read the Bible is to gain wisdom and knowledge. Once we receive wisdom and knowledge on the pathway to get from where we were to where we are now, we NEED to share this info with our Brothers who are still striving to get to where we are. 1. http://www.kappaalphapsi1911.cm/achievementacademy/index.html

What is the Importance of the Achievement Academy? To provide a mechanism where Undergraduate (UG) Brothers can position themselves for successful entrance and matriculation through graduate and professional schools. To increase the number and success rate of UG Brothers who achieve their career aspirations. To provide a sense of a professional community. Success

What is Your Role as a Mentee in the Achievement Academy? UG Brothers: To form a professional network with Alumni Brothers who will provide guidance for you to achieve your career aspirations. UG Brothers: To seek career mentoring from your Achievement Academy Mentor and network. UG Brothers: To belong and contribute to a specialized community of achievers. Achieving Career Aspirations

What is Your Role as a Mentor in the Achievement Academy? Alumni Brothers: To initiate contact with your mentee(s). Alumni Brothers: To be an advocate for your mentee(s). Alumni Brothers : To provide career mentoring for your mentee(s) from your Achievement Academy Mentor and network. Alumni Brothers : To belong and contribute to a specialized community of achievers.

from the Achievement Academy? What Should You Expect from the Achievement Academy? UG Brothers: Website links to summer internship programs, career opportunities, Fraternity leadership development opportunities, etc. UG and Alumni Brothers: To continue build a bridge of Brotherhood between UG and Alumni Brothers through Altruistic Achievement. UG and Alumni Brothers: To increase the presence and positive impact of professional African American males in our communities. Information about Summer Internship Opportunities, Career/Job Opportunities, leadership development and scholarship opportunities

Which Cohorts Are Involved in the Achievement Academy? Business Health Education STEM Religion Social Sciences Law Sports/Athletics Military “Dean”/Discipline We have 9 Disciplines…. We plan on having a Dean for each discipline who will be in charge to contacting Brothers about the Achievement Academy membership, and other information relevant to their discipline.

One on One mentoring and group mentoring events at the local, state, and Province levels.

Vision and Future Plans for the Achievement Academy Increase the impact of the Achievement Academy through news letters, breakout sessions (during CRWLC), Higher Education fairs, Professional Development workshops, mentor and mentee recognition awards, etc. (CRWLC and/or Provincial Meetings) Increase the impact of the Achievement Academy

Vision and Future Plans for the Achievement Academy Increase the impact of the Achievement Academy by recruiting more Mentors for a 1:1 Mentor:Mentee ratio for more effective mentoring 89 Mentees and 41 Mentors. More mentors needed for Engineers (Chemical, Computer, Mechanical, Electrical), Architects, Graphic Design. UG Brothers ask your local Alumni Chapter Brothers to sign up to be an Achievement Academy Mentor (http://http://www.kappaalphapsi1911.com/?page=AchievementAcademy). Every Brother within the province signs up as a Mentor/Mentee in the Achievement Academy, Possibility of having “seasonal mentors” for Brothers who are especially busy at certain times. For Example, right now is probably a very busy time for accountants preparing taxes.
