Assessment and Accountability 2017 Just Read, Florida! (JRF!)

JRF! plans for 2017-2018 Over the next year, JRF! will continue our collaboration with districts through our Tiered Support initiative which will use a system of data analyses to provide a structured system of support to areas of need which may include the following: Professional development opportunities Academies Problem solving groups With the implementation of STAR Early Literacy as the Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener (FLKRS) the Progress Monitoring Reporting Network (PMRN) will no longer be used to collect FLKRS data. JRF! will continue to support districts in their use of FLKRS data to improve instruction for their students, however, JRF! will no longer oversee the administration of FLKRS. FAIR-FS will still be available as part of the PMRN for all public schools in grade 3-12.

2017-2018 K-12 District Reading Plans JRF! will continue to partner with districts in the implementation of the Research-Based Reading Allocation as described in each district’s K-12 Comprehensive Reading Plan. Notable changes for 2017-2018 include: A structured system for monitoring An alignment of district goals to the State Board goals Using FLKRS results to identify students in need of intervention Defining reading deficiencies within each district

2017-2018 K-12 District Reading Plans K-12 Plan Goals Districts were asked to align their reading goals with the metrics on the State Board of Education’s Strategic Plan which included: Increasing achievement Increasing learning gains Narrowing achievement gaps

2017-2018 K-12 District Reading Plans K-12 Plan Monitoring Districts to be monitored will be determined by each districts progress in achieving the goals set forth in their plan. Additional support through the Tiered Support process will be offered to those who are not meeting their goals.

2017-2018 K-12 District Reading Plans Focus on Early Grades Using the new set of FLKRS data to identify students in need of intervention. Alignment of interventions for students with reading deficiencies to their identified area of need. Effects of student progression policies.
