You may want to study one subject There may be two subjects which you are interested in and you want to study both of them Joint honours – study half of one course and half of another, can only get a BA or a BSc, JH gives you more flexibility and get skills from two subject areas There are many different combinations available and if you’re unsure whether a certain combination is offered by a university, it’s best to check directly with that university A lot of courses now have the option of doing a year abroad or a year in industry. A language degree might require that you do a year abroad in a country where that particular language is spoken. You may have the option of studying whilst abroad, becoming a teaching assistant within a school teaching English to students or finding a job and working for a year At the University of East Anglia, many of our courses have the option of a semester (term) abroad or a year abroad in North America, Continental Europe or Australasia It may be a year in industry that you’re interested in which is great as work experience is very valuable to future employers and a lot of our science courses have good industry links BSc – Bachelor of Science, BA – Bachelor of Arts, LLB – Bachelor of Laws, MBBS – Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, BEd – Bachelor of Education, BEng – Bachelor of Engineering, MSci – Integrated Science Masters, MMath – Integrated Maths Masters You can study for a foundation year before you go onto UG course which makes your course 4 years instead of 3
