Confucianism Confucianism is a philosophy that began in China around 500 - 400 B.C. Founded by Confucius. Beliefs: Confucianism is concerned mainly with social organization and politeness. Ethical system, not religion. It emphasizes respect for elders and education. Many books (not necessarily sacred or holy) Leaders are sages (educated men). They are not priests. No holidays- Everyday acts are considered rituals
