Number Games

Dot Marker Game In this game the children roll two dice. One dice has dot marker dots in different colors and the other has numbers. ( I made one with actual numbers and one with dots.) The child finds the matching dot marker color and makes the number of dots rolled on their paper. This game can be modified to include addition or subtraction by having the children add or subtract to subsequent rolls.

Clothesline Match In this game the children match the number on the pants pocket to the number of dots on the shirt. The children could also put the shirts and/or pants in order if desired.

Classification & Sorting

Shape Sort The children sort the shapes by color, size, or shape. For older children a page could be made for them to sort by two qualities such as color and size or shape and color. The shape could also be used with out the sorting guides to make patterns.

Season Sort The students sort the pictures by which season the belong to.

Comparing & Ordering

Paint Color Swatches In this game the child puts the paint color swatch colors in order from darkest to lightest. Younger children can use the matching color swatch as a guide and older children can use it to self correct their work.

Estimation Graph Children first estimate which group of items has more then use the graph to check their answer. I used items from around my house and also made letters so the children could estimate who has more letters in their name.

Shape & Form

Oreo Cookie Match The children are given one half of the oreo cookie. The other half is laid face down on the table. The children take turns flipping the cookies over on the table in an effort to match the ones in their hand.

Trace & Fill Shape The children will first trace the shape shown and then see how many of the smaller shapes fit inside the larger shape. You could also have children answer questions like “Can you completely fill a square with circles?”
