Description of Alzheimer’s ■ Symptoms and characteristics ■ Alzheimer Disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually even the ability to carry out the simplest tasks of daily living. ■ If you have Alzheimer, you may be the first person to notice you have unusual difficulty remembering things and thoughts. ■ The average life expectancy for people with Alzheimer’s Disease is 10 to 8 years after diagnosis. In some cases I can be short as 3 year or as long as 20 years. content/uploads/2010/03/alzheimers -frontpage1.jpg

Description of Alzheimer's ■ Who is affected? Anyone, but the following have a higher risk: ■ Primarily people over age 65 ■ Nearly half of all individuals who reach the age 85 will develop Alzheimer's. ■ Outlook or quality of life ■ Research shows that by million to 16 million people will have Alzheimer's. ■ Alzheimer’s disease usually starts out slow, but eventually results into severe brain damage. ■ The actual cause of death isn't the disease itself, the actual cause of death is usually is a physical illness such as pneumonia. ■ Treatment can slow the process of the disease in some people, but relieving symptoms can improve function significantly. ■ Researcher: KB
