Consider a Language Minor You are already on your way!

 Another language enables you to work, live and travel in another country.  Many career choices are only open to you if you have another language.  For many graduate programs, a second language is required. "Studying languages and linguistics is one of the most rewarding experiences here at Queen’s." Andrea and Alanna, DSC Chairs

 The study of languages unlocks new worlds of literature and culture.  Learning a language sparks your creativity! Finish what you started! A minor in a language complements any major and will stand out on your transcript. It will make you competitive internationally, since students outside of North America usually have more than one language.

Minors are available in: German Studies Hispanic Studies Italian Indigenous Studies Spanish and Latin American Studies World Language Studies Linguistics  Find detailed descriptions for all Plans on the LLCU website under “Academics.”

Minor in Indigenous Studies Consists of 30.0 units “ Indigenous Studies challenges you in the best way; it allows you to view the world from a an alternate perspective.” Lauren Ball, Global Development and Indigenous Studies

Indigenous Studies = Interdisciplinary Studies Students can take a variety of pathways through the Plan, depending on what else they are studying, where their interest lie and where they already have the prerequisites for higher level study

In year one you could take:  LLCU 101/3.0 Mohawk II and  LLCU 102/3.0 Mohawk II In year two you take core courses:  DEVS 220/3.0 Introduction to Aboriginal Studies and  DEVS 221/3.0 Topics in Aboriginal Studies

In year three and year four you take SIX courses (18.0 units) in INDG option courses Option courses include courses in Art History, Biology, Global Development, Drama, English, Gender Studies, Geography, History, Health Studies, International Studies, Music, Political Studies and Religion
