Which is the “thing” in each group?  Kids because there are kids in or on the teams.  So our number of things in each group is 3  3 kids in each team

How do we solve? Number of Groups: 2 teams Number of Things in Each Group: 3 kids 1. Draw it out Team 1Team 2

How do we solve? Number of Groups: 2 teams Number of Things in Each Group: 3 kids 2. Set up the multiplication:  2 Groups  3 Things in Each Group 2 teams x 3 kids on each team 2 x 3 is the same as  There are 6 kids playing the game 3. Now count the kids in your drawing just to make sure.
